Three Things to know about Latisse

If longer, lusher, darker eyelashes are what you’re after, Latisse could be the solution. The professional-grade treatment is a safe and effective way to grow your lashes back. Here are three things to know about Latisse:

1. Be patient

Latisse works gradually, not overnight.

“It takes time to see results,” said Kathe Malinowski, lead esthetician and marketing manager for Eterna MedSpa & Laser Vein Center.

While some difference may be noted in the appearance of your eyelashes in as little as four weeks, it will likely take 16 weeks to achieve maximum results.

2. It can be incorporated into your evening routine

“Latisse should be used at night after washing your face,” Malinowski said.

Using an applicator brush, apply a single drop of the FDA-approved solution along your upper eyelid.

Any excess solution can be blotted away. Avoid using the same applicator for both eyes as this helps to minimize possible contamination between your eyelids. Latisse should not be directly applied to bottom lashes.

3. Consistency is key

In a natural cycle, eyelashes grow, fall out, and start to regrow.

Latisse contains the active ingredient bimatoprost, which not only increases the length of the growth phase, but also increases the number of hairs in this growth phase.

While fuller lashes will be realized in 16 weeks, the continual use of Latisse is required to maintain them.

“If you stop using Latisse your new lashes that come in will not be fuller and longer,” Malinowski said. “They will also have a shortened growth stage.”
