Latisse

3 things to know about Latisse

If you would like thicker, fuller eyelashes look no further than Latisse. The topical is the first and only prescription treatment approved by the FDA for inadequate or insufficient eyelashes, growing them longer, fuller and darker. Here are three things to know about Latisse.

1) The payoff

Clients may start to see more length in as little as four weeks and achieve full growth in about 16 weeks. While mascara can give your eyelashes a boost for a few hours, Latisse offers long-term results.

2) Application

Each Latisse kit comes with the bottle of solution and applicators. Using it is as simple as once a day putting a drop of the solution on an applicator and running the brush along the lash line from the outer corner to the inner corner. The Latisse solution should not be directly applied to bottom lashes. Mascara can be worn over the treatment.

3) Why it works

Latisse contains the active ingredient bimatoprost which stimulates eyelash growth. While the precise mechanism of action is unknown, the treatment is believed to affect the growth phase of the eyelash hair cycle in two ways: first, it increases the length of this phase, and second, it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase.
